CST - what is it?
CST - CranioSacral therapy.
It is a gentle, hands-on approach which focuses on the CranioSacral system of the body.
Our amazing CranioSacral system consist of the membranes, the attached bones and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects our brain and spinal cord. During a CST session, whilst you are fully clothed throughout, I will use my hands to identify any areas of restriction or imbalance in your body. Within CST there are several fantastic techniques. These are always very gentle, respectful and can bring very noticeable results. The realignment of fascia, soft tissue, bones and even the energetic form of the body can function more coherently with improved overall health.
CST is a type of bodywork using light touch to release tensions. It may involve gentle manipulation of the bones of the skull, spine, and other parts of the body relieving pain and dysfunction thus improving whole-body health and performance. It is a gentle relaxing treatment often used as a complementary therapy to address a wide range of conditions. The types of problems people come looking for help are so varied but can include stress and tension related disorders, musculoskeletal pain, migraines and headaches, brain and spinal injuries, emotional issues as well as many other acute and chronic conditions.
CST is not a replacement for conventional medical care and I would always recommend you consult your doctor or consultant. Also want to mention that some clients have no presenting complaints - they simply come for relaxation.
From newborns to granny - can benefit all ages
Because CST is in its essence is about connecting with another person it is for anyone of any age.
It is amazing to treat newborns whose systems may have simply become a bit misaligned during their nine months’ ‘evolution’ or during their sometimes challenging birth process. The speed and efficiency with which they self correct is seemingly miraculous.
I have worked with pregnant ladies and babies and will do an intensive Paediatric course in Dublin this September to strengthen my training and deepen my understanding for treating newborns.
It is also fantastic to work with older folk who want to keep their fascia and body functioning as best as possible and in optimal general health.
People have found over the years that there are many issues and problems that respond very well to the gentle touch of CST.
When changes can be made in the soft tissue structures housing the brain and spinal cord improving the levels of tension held, some incredible results and changes in people’s health and symptoms can be made.
